What Are The Traits of an Entrepreneur?
“Not all entrepreneurs are created from the same blueprint. They come from different geographic locations, upbringings, income brackets and social classes, as well as education levels. While there isn’t a foolproof map to entrepreneurial greatness, one thing is consistent — successful entrepreneurs all possess the following 10 traits.” ~ Thomas Smale, Co-founder of FE International, March 11, 2015 article “10 Traits All Successful Entrepreneurs Share”
1. Full of determination — Set very clear and precise goals. MUST be determined, from the beginning, to be successful and stay committed.
2. Not afraid to take risks — Going “all in” devoting 100 percent of myself to making my business successful and not be afraid to takes risks.
3. High level of confidence — Understand the challenges and have a high level of confidence to get the job done. My mindset is focused on the finish line and not the end.
4. Craves learning — I am constantly learning and growing to stay ahead by reading books, waking up early to do everything I can to constantly learn, absorb new information, and stay ahead of my competitors.
5. Understands failure is part of the game.
“Few first ventures work out. It is how a beginning entrepreneur deals with failure that sets that person apart. In fact, failure is one of the secrets to success, since some of the best ideas arise from the ashes of a shuttered business.” ~ Richard Branson
Accepting the failures and using them to my advantage and by learning from them it will teach me more than anything I will have ever learned in a classroom.
6. Passionate about my business — Understand that passion is the fuel that drives me and determines my success.
Knowing that there is no such thing as a forty hour week; Sacrifices will be made and I must consume myself 150% and be fully passionate about what I am doing.
7. Highly adaptable — Since I cannot see what lurks around each corner I must be adaptable to work through these surprises; must be able to think on your feet; respond quickly to any situation and make decisions that will all me to quickly respond.
8. Good understanding of money management — Must have excellent money management skills. Poor financial decisions can quickly ruin my business. Have a clear financial map (plan) drawn out, to include monthly expenses and obligations, allocating monthly funds for tasks that fall outside of the “essential” category. Always stick to my plan because money problems can destroy a business.
9. Expert at networking — Build value-based relationships with my clients and build long-term relationships that are mutually beneficial to sustain my business. Knowing how to help someone else will come back to me ten-fold.
10. Ability to sell and promote — Knowing how to sell is an absolute essential part of being a successful business owner and Entrepreneur. Know the value of my product(s) and how it can solve the problem of others.
