Reclaiming Your Work-Life Balance
Have you ever found yourself trying to figure out how to balance everything that you have on your platter — between work and your personal life?
Behold the eternal struggle.
During the Holidays this struggle seems to be more apparent for some folks than others. Many people are working very hard at reclaiming their boundaries and improving their work-life balance.
WOW, January 31st is just around the corner and I have just scratched the surface of working on my goals for 2019.
Where did the time go?
I’m sure many of you have been in this same position only to throw your hands up in the air and say:
“Oh Well, I knew it wouldn’t work.”
Have you ever thought why you were not able to complete these goals or what caused it?
How about distractions?
Well, did you ever think that social media had anything to do with the distractions?
· How many times a day do you check your e-mails?
· How often are you on social media sites like Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, etc.?
In the past we have seen and experienced where companies have cut back on staff to save cost while asking those still employed to pick work extra hours, get paid less money to keep their jobs and the list goes on.
Many people are working very hard at reclaiming their boundaries and improving their work-life balance.
Here are several ways that individuals can “reclaim their boundaries and improve their work-life balance.”
· Rethinking Flexibility — Work a flexible schedule that allows you to work from home or a satellite office to cut down on your commuting time. With technology being like it is today workers are now being offered this opportunity.
· More Self-employment — Some feel that in order to reclaim their boundaries and improve their work-life balance they would benefit from self-employment.
“According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, in May 2015, 15.5 million people in the U.S. were self-employed. Which is an increase of 1 million people.”
This year, it is anticipated that number will continue to grow and more people will become independent workers, i.e., freelancers, contractors, temporary employees or self-employed.
What has contributed to this trend?
- More ways to work remotely
2. Co-working spaces are opening in urban areas
3. Employers see the benefit of using experienced contractors rather than full-time employees.
It all boils down to how, we as individuals want to live our lives and provide us with a better work-life balance.
I hope that this blog challenged you to think differently. If you are looking for ways to bring your life back into balance you definitely want to consider starting your side hustle business.
