Entrepreneurship Has No Age Limit.
I was reading an article the other day “Ten Great Reasons to Become a Boomer Entrepreneur” by Mike Kennedy and it made me think of why I decided to become a Boomer Entrepreneur.
I had always wanted to be a “professional working woman” and in 2002 I had already been working for twenty-nine years in corporate America working for other people and making a decent living. But, I still was not satisfied.
So, I walked away from it all with no job and this insatiable desire to be my own boss for a change and help Baby Boomers, improve their lifestyle. My only regret was, that I hadn’t done this sooner.
In Mike’s article he provides “Ten Great Reasons To Become A Boomer Entrepreneur” that I want to share with you.
1. Ageism can play a major role for someone to seek out on a new venture. After all, age doesn’t matter when you are the Boss.
2. Being a Boomer Entrepreneur we still have plenty of years ahead of us with good health. At 71 years young I am still able to go to the office every day and see myself working for many years yet.
3. Boomerpreneuer’s are able to generate income well after age 65 and the additional income improves your ability to having a financially secure retirement.
4. You can be more selective in choosing who to work with and the one’s you do not want to work with.
5. The Internet has broadened the playing field and you are able to work from any location, i.e., Home, coffee shops, etc. This alone can have a positive effect on your health and well-being.
6. The opportunity of building your business around something you are passionate about and create your legacy.
7. The time I spent working a “9 to 5 job” has given me 37 years of experience and expertise and with the Internet (network), social skills and maturity I am able to apply this knowledge into a new venture.
People over the age of 55 are more prone to being entrepreneur material.
8. By staying mentally engaged during your retirement years can be a game changer for your health, both mentally and physically.
9. A startup business can be launched for less than $10,000 and can be run for less than $500 per month.
10. Boomers are not afraid to take chances.
Are you ready to make the leap for mankind?
