Successful Leaders Admit Their Mistakes And Accept The Consequences.

Jill C. Klunk September 11, 2018 Category: Leadership

Every morning before I start my day I take five minutes to read A Daily Devotional by John C. Maxwell in his book “Leadership Promises For Every Day.”

In this morning’s devotional “The Heart of a Leader” Maxwell talks about how all Leaders make mistakes. It is a part of life. But, successful Leaders recognize their errors and learn from them and then take action to correct those faults.

This one characteristic of a successful leader is just one particular trait that has been identified and is the most important one. They admit their mistake and accept the consequences rather than trying to put the blame on someone else.

Unfortunately, most people don’t want to admit they make mistakes because they are afraid that their subordinants will think poorly of them or they may risk the chance of a promotion.

I agree with Maxwell and will continue to admit if I made have mistakes. As a Leader, I am responsible for ALL of my actions, good or bad, and take action for my short falls and learn from them.

With this simple act, my employees respected me, admired me, trusted me and knew that I would fight for them.
